Current Volunteer Roles:
We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Here are some of the ways you can contribute:
1. Sailing Instructors & Mentors:
Role: Provide hands-on sailing instruction and mentorship during our "Second Wind" Sailing Academy clinics and community voyages. Share your love for sailing and guide participants as they discover new capabilities.
Ideal for: ASA-certified instructors, experienced sailors, or anyone with significant sailing experience who can patiently teach and inspire.
Commitment: Flexible, ranging from single-day events to multi-day courses.
2. Event Support Crew:
Role: Assist with the planning, logistics, registration, setup, and execution of our fundraising events, the Secunda Vita Regatta, and various community outreach activities.
Ideal for: Organized individuals with strong communication skills, event management experience, or simply a willingness to help wherever needed.
Commitment: Event-specific, ranging from a few hours to a full weekend.
3. Medical Support (On-Site & Remote):
Role: Provide essential first aid, medical oversight, or specialized transplant-related support during our sailing events, regattas, and potentially for more involved expeditions. Remote support for medical advisement is also welcome.
Ideal for: Licensed medical professionals (Nurses, EMTs, Paramedics, Physicians) with current certifications and a passion for the transplant community.
Commitment: Event-specific or on-call advisory.
4. Administrative & Development Support:
Role: Assist with crucial behind-the-scenes tasks such as grant research and writing, social media content creation, donor relations support, general office administration, or website maintenance.
Ideal for: Detail-oriented individuals with experience in non-profit operations, communications, marketing, or general administrative tasks.
Commitment: Flexible, project-based or regular part-time hours.
5. Skilled Trades & Logistics:
Role: Contribute specialized skills such as boat maintenance, photography/videography for events, graphic design, IT support, or logistics coordination for equipment and travel.
Ideal for: Individuals with specific professional trades or highly sought-after creative/technical skills.
Commitment: Project-based.
