Our Story: The Genesis of Secunda Vita Foundation

Every great journey begins with a powerful 'why.' For the Secunda Vita Foundation, our mission to empower transplant survivors through sailing is deeply rooted in a profound personal experience – a testament to resilience, the miracle of organ donation, and the boundless potential of a second chance at life.

This Foundation was born from the personal odyssey of its founder, Teague. A lifelong admirer of the ocean, Teague's dreams of sailing nearly ended in late 2023 when acute fulminant hepatitis A led to rapid liver failure and a coma. On the verge of succumbing, a miraculous liver transplant offered Teague a new beginning. Despite an arduous recovery, this life-altering experience ignited an unshakeable resolve to live fully and pursue long-held aspirations. Now fully recovered, Teague is embarking on ambitious trans-Pacific sailing voyages, not just for personal achievement, but to empower fellow transplant survivors through the Secunda Vita Foundation, demonstrating that a second life knows no bounds and encouraging others to reclaim their passions.

Driven by resilience

Teague's experience underscored the preciousness of life and the incredible generosity of organ donors. It became clear that this 'second life' was not just a personal gift but a powerful platform to inspire others. The dream evolved from personal achievement to collective empowerment: to create a community where transplant recipients, donors, and their families can rediscover their strength, redefine their limits, and celebrate their second chance on the healing waters of the world. This vision culminated in the establishment of the Secunda Vita Foundation
